|There are many plants that can be used as groundcover in a sunny location. Most of them however do not have both the broad-leafed textural look and evergreen look of pachysandra. You might try Vinca minor or periwinkle as the closest substitute. For a hot and sunny location however you might do better with one of the mat forming or carpet junipers, a very low growing needled evergreen shrub instead. Your local county extension and professional nursery staff might have additional suggestions based on a more detailed knowledge of the growing conditions in the particular location where you want to plant it. Good luck with your project!
