How do you take care of a Windmill Palm? |
Trachycarpus fortunei, the windmill palm, is hardy and can be grown outdoors in your gardening zone. Provide full sun to light afternoon shade, average well-draining soil, and water regularly during the spring and summer months. Windmill palm is from China. It's a medium-sized (10' tall, 30' wide), very hardy fan palm. High winds can damage the fronds, but otherwise it's a reasonably carefree landscape tree. Windmill palms are often grown indoors in bright indirect light, and transplanted out into the garden when they become too large. Remove the lower fronds when they look old and tattered by sawing them off close to the trunk. |
