If the saguaro has been in the ground for awhile and its root system is established, it will survive on rainfall. I never water mine. If the ribs look very thin, and there's no rain, you may want to water it slowly to allow water to soak in about 12 inches deep no more than once per month. Don't overwater, or the roots can rot. They do not need any fertilizer or insect control. The beauty of native plants is that they are adapted to the desert's growing conditions, and don't need much maintenance. Enjoy your saguaro!
