Thank you for taking time to assist me! I have a small balcony patio *approx 8'x13'*(on the second story,in a small cluster of townhomes, which the patios face each other), overlooking a parking area/courtyard. *whew* It has nice morning/afternoon exposure, and in blustery weather, has harsh winds and rain.
Can you offer some suggestions on a plant that would provide privacy from below/across, and not have toxic parts *that would fall* for my small dog? I would love to open up the drapes and have some privacy!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
|Some potentials for your balcony include bamboo (they make a lovely rustling sound), jasmine, honeysuckle or lace vine (provide a trellis for support), or plant one of the groundcover roses and train it up and over the balcony. If none of these plants appeals to you, try planting some the annual vines such as scarlet runner beans, sweet peas, or morning glory, and train them up wires or strings that you've strung from the ceiling to the floor of your balcony. These plants will provide a screen during the spring and summer months, then die back so you can enjoy the winter sunshine. Good luck with your new plants!
