|My pear is 9 years old- about 10 feet tall-nearby pears of other varieties bloom and bear well, even tho they are younger.|
All get similar feeding and sunlight. This tree has never had A blossom. Is it a MALE pear tree?
|This tree is hardy to zone 5 and I would expect it to bear fruit for you. You would need a good pollen source blooming at the same time in order for it to bear, but since you have other pears doing well I am a bit surprised at the problem. (According to Stark Brothers, a good pollen source for it is Starking Delicious, however another Moonglow or other pears can also do the job.) |
But, first things first, if the tree is not blooming then it definitely will not bear any fruit. Possibly the most common reason is bud and blossom damage due to spring frosts and freezes. If this tree happens to be in a more exposed location or in a lower site causing a frost pocket, that might explain the difference.
I hope this helps you trouble shoot. Good luck with your pear.
