Begonias and most other annuals will act like perennials in warm climate areas; if you keep the faded blooms picked off, they'll flower for a long time. Begonias will go through a period of rest in which the leaves and stems will wither and die. During this resting period, do not feed and water only sparingly. After resting for several weeks, new growth will begin again, and you can resume your usual watering and feeding regime. Plant begonias whenever you can get them from local nurseries.
