|Most any variety of hosta will thrive in rich, moist soil in a shady site. Hosta foliage will die back in the fall and the roots will rest before sending out new foliage in the spring. There are no hostas that remain green all year around. You might want to try planting cool-weather annuals such as pansies in the bed to cover the void left by your hostas when they go dormant during the winter months.
