Colorful Shade Plants - Knowledgebase Question

I am starting a shade garden. So far, hosta & a few other not so interesting things. Can you suggest about 100 sq ft, of shade plants fairly exotic different heights colors etc

Here's a list of good choices for your shade garden. For growth rates and characteristics, consult a copy of Sunset Western Garden Book (usually available at libraries). Best wishes with your shade garden!
Suggested shrubs:
Abutilion (flowering maple), Aucuba japonica, Brunfelsia, Camellia, Carpenteria (bush anemone), Coprosma (mirror plant), Daphne odora (winter daphne), Fuchsia, Gardenia, Hamamelis (witch hazel), Leucothoe, Osmanthus, Sarcococca (sweet box), and Griselinia lucida.
Suggested perennials:
Acanthus (bear's breech), Aconite, Alchemillia (lady's mantle), Anemone (windflower), Asarum (wild ginger), Begonia, Caladium, Campanula, Clivia, Coleus, Corydalis, Cyclamen, Dicentra (bleeding heart), Ferns of all descriptions, Gentian, Lily, Heuchera (coral bells), Lobelia, Primrose, Saxifraga, Vinca (periwinkle) and Pansy.
