| Every plant has a requirement for the amount of direct sunlight it receives. If a tag says full sun, you should plant it in an area that gets 8-10 hours of direct sunshine each day. Examples include roses, fruit trees, and irises. If the tag says full sun to partial sun, the plant will be happy in as much as 10 or as little as 4 hours of direct sunshine each day. With a plant like this, you can give it all day sunshine, or just morning sunshine, or just afternoon sunshine. The choice is yours and as long as the plant gets at least 4 hours of direct sunshine, it will be happy. If the tag says full to part shade, the plant will be happiest in a shady site, or one that gets only morning sun. (Early morning sunshine is not as intense as afternoon sunshine.)
