| I love this plant however, our first one dropped all it's leaves and died within two months of being planted. This plant was recomended for our new landscape by a local nursery and now we just spent $37.00 for another specimen. The soil was moist but not wet and the plant had full sun for half to two thirds of the day and then afternoon shade. What can we do to perserve the blue sapphire this time around. Thank you |
| Ceanothus are such beautiful shrubs that I think every garden should have one! They are, however, rather exacting in their needs. In the wild, Ceanothus grows on rocky slopes. In your garden, they need light, well-draining soil. They prefer dry soil, but will tolerate occasional watering during the summer months. If you keep the soil too moist, they will die. Full sunshine is required for best growth, but a few hours of afternoon shade shouldn't reduce the blooming ability of your Ceanothus.
