|My mother's trumpet vine produced a banana-shaped seed pod. We harvested it and dried the seeds. Will we be able to start seeds from these thin, unsubstantial-looking things or is it a waste of time to try? I know trumpet vines can be started from cuttings.
|If your trumpet vine is 'Campsis radicans' it can be started from seeds, layering, root cuttings or greenwood cuttings. You can try planting the seeds with no special treatment, but you may get better germination if you pre-treat the seeds by planting them in moist seed-starting mix and placing them in the refrigerator for about 2 months. Then remove the pots and place in a spot where the temperature remains about 70F. Germination should take place in 15-20 days.|
