What are good vegetables to grow in pots on my deck in zone 7? |
Of course the first vegetable that comes to mind are tomatoes. Burpee carries several varieties specifically hybridized to grow well in containers. Generally, compact and fast growers like lettuces, shallow root crops like radishes and beets, and fruiting crops like chili peppers, tomatoes, and mini bell peppers will grow well in containers. I have also had success with broccoli, cauliflower, and baby carrots. Of course you can't forget about herbs to accompany your vegetables! The main consideration is choosing a container appropriate to what you want to grow, the larger the container the better. Half whiskey barrels are great! |
