Having a horticulture degree from Iowa State University, I feel a little silly asking this question....Could Ilex x 'Mondo' (Little Rascal) be used as a pollenizer for Ilex verticillata 'Nana' (Red Sprite)? Thanks for your help.

Holly pollination can be confusing because there are so many hybrids. For future reference, if hollies are of the same category or group, they will pollinate each other. For instance Ilex x meservea, the blue hollies, can be counted on to pollinate other blue hollies. Ilex verticillata is a winterberry and will need another winterberry for pollination. 'Jim Dandy' is a good pollinator for 'Red Sprite'. Ilex x 'Mondo' (Little Rascal) is actually from the meserveae family and will pollinate other blue hollies, but not winterberry.

Hope this clarifies things for you!
