I have a landscape plan that calls for carmel creeper ceanothus. I mistakely purchased blue sapphire ceanothus. How similar or dissimilar are they? Can the blue sapphire be used in place of a carmel creeper? Any advice or considerations? Thnaks |
Ceanothus 'Carmel Creeper' is a groundcover type plant growing 18-24" tall and 5-15' wide. Ceanothus 'Blue Sapphire' grows 2-4' tall and wide. The foliage is similar but 'Blue Sapphire' has larger flower clusters that bloom in a slightly deeper color. The stems of this plant are arching, where the stems of 'Carmel Creeper' are horizontal and lower to the ground. I think these plants are similar enough to be used interchangably in groundcover situations. Enjoy! |
