|Hello, I have a meyer lemon tree which bore full, ripe fruit the first year. The second year the flowers would fall off, and if they managed to stay on long enough to become teeny lemons, they too would fall off before they were the size of olives. I fertilize with Organic Citrus Tree Fertilizer as directed and cut the tree back. Now it is full of healthy green leaves and flowers. But again the fruit falls off while they are small. What am I doing wrong?
|Fruit drop is very common, as the trees set far more fruit than they can bare to maturity. Citrus trees usually take several years or more to develop a consistent fruit crop. Citrus is highly dependent on consistent soil moisture, so make sure water soaks through the entire root system. Water when the top inch or two of soil dries out. I hope this info helps.|
