I NEED SOME GROWING TIPS FOR MY RECENT PURCHASE OF HYDRANGEA MARCOPHYLLA. |
Julie, Hydrangeas love to be in bright shade and will really burn in the full sun. Give them a soil with plenty of organic matter (lots of compost) and keep them moist. They really pitch a fit when they get dry or if their soil gets soggy! Fertilize them periodically from spring through summer. Most any balanced fertilizer will do, although products made for acid loving plants will likely give you the blooms you are looking for. You may need to acidify the soil if you want the blooms to be blue. Two cups of sulfur (mixed into the soil before planting) per 100 square feet should do the trick. If not, add another two cups to the soil surface and water in well. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
