In Orange, California, how often should calla lilies be watered? Are they an outdoors plant?

The common calla (Zantedeschia) is tolerant of most soil types and thrives in moist, almost boggy soils all year around. In your gardening region you can grow them in either full sun or light afternoon shade. Once you've planted the rhizomes (4" deep and 1' apart) you can leave them in the ground all year around. With regular watering (keep soil moist all year around), they will remain evergreen to semi-evergreen. Enjoy your calla lilies!
