Sago palm is not really a palm, but a cycad. The genus/species is Cycas revoluta. It is hardy to 15 degrees F. Depending on where you live in Alabama, it might get colder than that. If so, you can plant it in a container, move it outdoors during the spring and summer months, then move it indoors for winter. Since it will be growing in a pot, the size will not be quite as large as one growing outdoors in the ground.
