I have a problem with mushrooms in my mulch. I realize many people have asked what can be done to get rid of them. No one seems to get an answer to this problem. Most of the responses simply state they will go away. Is there a chemical or other substance I can put on my mulch to deter these mushrooms? Does adding lime to the mulch deter mushrooms?
thank you

The reason there is no solution offered is that it is not a detrimental problem, it just looks ugly to some people. Modern integrated pest management practices would consider this something that does not require control. In any case, they are a naturally occuring phenomenon and do disappear on their own once the growth conditions are no longer favorable. If you want to try some sort of chemical treatment you could ask your local county extension what they might be able to recommend. They will have the most up to date recommendations for chemical controls in your state, if there are any that would work in your particular situation they will know.
