Is there a product on the market to control grubs without killing beneficials like earthworms? I love my flowers, but have a huge amount of ground moles after grubs... |
Brenda, There are a number of low toxicity products on the market but most are not very effective against grubs for a number of reasons primarily that these insects are buried down into the soil. There is a biological grub killer but it is not very effective against the species of grubs you most likely have in your part of the country. I suggest you contact your County Extension Office and inquire about whether products with the bacterial milky spore disease, Bacillus popilliae, work against the grubs found in your area. If not they may be able to recommend another low tox product such as one containing Imidocloprid. They will also be able to suggest appropriate timing for such applications as timing is critical for effective control. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
