| I have a Hawaiian Pikake vine. Can you please tell me how to care for it correctly. The leaves don't seem to be as green as they were last year. I have been feeding with a tropical plant fertiilizer by Grow More. Should I cut it back? Any other suggestions? |
| Hawaiian Pikake, or Jasminum sambac, grows best in full sun to light shade, in rich, moist, well-draining soil. The tips of the stems should be pinched back throughout the growing season to encourage the development of lots of new flowering stems and to increase healthy new foliage in the middle of the plant. It's normal for evergreen plants to eventually lose their oldest leaves - which will be quickly replaced with healthy new ones. I suspect the leaves are paler this year than last because your plant is about to drop these leaves. Since you've already fertilized (which will encourage new growth), go ahead and cut your plant back by one-third. It will respond with lots of new flowering stems.
