My hibiscus bushes are dying. All the leaves are turning yellow. What is the matter?

Ann,

It could be dry soil or soggy wet soil conditions. Both kill roots and cause the symptoms you are seeing. It may also be due to damage from a weed control product used around the plants or from some type of root rot. Such rots are difficult to control and usually are related to wet soil conditions...but not always.

Dig down a few inches and feel the soil to see if it is dry or saturated. Keep it just moist, not too wet or dry. Fertilize the plant with a turf type fertilizer at a rate of 1/2 cup sprinkled throughout a circular area extending 3 feet out from the hibiscus in all directions.
