Is the Tight and Bright Cherry Laurel safe to plant in a yard where children will be playing? What I've read on the internet suggests these trees are highly toxinc and thus not a good idea for those with kids. Is this true, or am I reading about a different variety perhaps?

Prunus caroliniana is the cherry laurel; the wilted leaves, twigs, stems and berries are toxic if consumed. If you think your children might be tempted to eat these plant parts, I'd suggesting planting something else. Escallonia or Viburnum might be better choices for your garden.
