I brought home a clipping from the office. It is doing well in a jar of water. How do I transplant it to soil without killing it? And what type of soil and conditions does it need?

Aralia is difficult to propagate from cuttings, but you may have success if you take a fresh stem cutting, dip the cut end in rooting hormone, then place it in moistened seed starting mix. The cuttings require bottom heat so if you can, place the container on top of your refrigerator or hot water heater to provide the heat it needs. The cutting will also require light, so choose the brightest warm spot for it. Best wishes with your new aralia.
