My husband remembers a 'night blooming' Jasmine that used to grow near his home in Miami when he was young. Another person told me that this is not actually a Jasmine but something like 'Gessamine'. Can you help me find this plant? |
It is probably Cestrum nocturnum which is often called night blooming jasmine, this is a shrubby perennial plant. There is also an evergreen vine with fragrant yellow flowers called Gelsemium sempervirens or Caorolina jessamine. Some people say it is especially fragrant at night, too. Here is a photo in case you think it is this one. http://www.floridata.com/ref/G... Your local nurseries should carry these, but if not they are available by mail order. Logees for example usually offers the Cestrum along with a wide selection of true jasmines -- listed under Jasminum -- as well as the Gelsemium. There are photos in their on line catalog as well. http://www.logees.com/default.... Enjoy your night blooming jasmine! |
