How fast will the fan palm grow? - Knowledgebase Question

I bought a fan palm that you sell today.
1. How many feet does the fan palm grow per month? It is warm and sunny here now. Temps 70-90 F. Will it grow 10 feet during the summer months?
I asked because it is written that it is fast growing.
2. Will the fan palm survive the NY winter? Usually it is 15 degrees and higher even in the very cold winter season.

This is a faster growing palm, so relative to other palms it is considered to be fast. This means maybe a foot a year in California, a little faster than that, maybe two feet a year in warmer climates at the equator. So in Brooklyn where the duration of the warm temperatures is only a few months per year, you will not see much growth in a single season. I am really sorry this is not what you were expecting. Also, it will not survive the winter outside so you will have to bring it indoors in the fall and keep it as a conservatory or houseplant during the winter months. Otherwise it will freeze to death and you will have to replace it each spring. So from that perspective maybe it is not such a bad thing that it is not growing to grow huge in one season.
