I have just bought a metal bench and I would like to know how do I antique it. How do I make my bench look like it was made 100 years ago?

You may be able to achieve that look by painting it. There are antiquing kits available, or you can mix and match your paints to create a faux look. Your paint store will usually have directions available and may even have demonstration classes, or check your craft books section at the library or bookstore or craft store. Generally a coat of primer is applied (check the label for surface preparation directions), then an uneven base coat of turquoise and grey topped with a dry-brushed layer in bronze and rust shades. Then you might sponge on a bit of thinned out black and wipe most of it off, this last touch just to accentuate any irregularities in the metal and dull down any overly bright parts. Enjoy your bench!
