| The leaf shed may be a normal reaction to being recently transplanted. It isn't unusual for plants to lose their oldest leaves in favor of replacing them with healthy new leaves. Be sure you're watering your barberry deeply once each week during the growing season and that it's growing in full sunshine. I expect your plant will replace the lost leaves later in the summer.
