|there is the cold hardiness map and the ahs zone map. How do you figure humidity? So many local nurseries as far as I can tell sell plants the melt in the humidity. What and how does one tell if a plant will survive in our humidity.
I am not aware of any such map but you are right about the sweltering combination of heat and humidity. The best thing is to consult local sources such as your County Extension Office, local botanical gardens and gardening gurus from the area. Monrovia has a listing for cold hardiness and heat zones with their "GROWTH CONDITIONS" listing for each plant. If you fall into the heat zone there is a good chance the plant will do okay for your area. The bigger issue than humidity is heat tolerance and for all plants it is critical to not overwater in the heat as soggy soil and hot conditions are a deadly combo.
