How to get rid of peach tree borer without using harmful chemicals that will kill my earth worms?

If you want strictly non-chemical controls, here are a couple of time-honored suggestions: You can probe the borer tunnels with wire to stab the larvae, and/or carefully cultivate the top few inches of soil near the base of the tree in early summer to kill the pupae, which will be snug in their silky cocoons. Be very careful with your garden tools - a favorite entry route for borers is through wounds made by mechanical injury.
