|We have just recently purchased a Tricolor European Beech grown by your company. I has been in the ground for about 1 month and I am now finding what looks like white larvae or mold growing on the underside of the leaves. Could you tell me what it is, how to eradicate this problem and if this is life-threatening to the tree. As you can see I live in Canada (zone 4b). I have quite extensive gardens and also need to know if this can effect other plants that I have. I have never seen this before on any other plant/tree/shrub that I own.
|Unfortunately, based on your description I am not certain what is happening to your tree. These trees are usually quite trouble free although with occasional incidences of a few problems; of the typical list of suspects the only one that would come faintly close to what you described is powdery mildew. But as an experienced gardener I think you probably would have recognized that. So I would suggest you consult with your retailer and/or professionally trained and certified arborist and see if they can identify the problem for you. Then, based on that, you can determine how to proceed. I'm sorry I can't be more specific for you long distance. I hope it is nothing serious.|
