Some gardeners leave the flowers on hydrangeas all winter long because they look kind of interesting in the garden when the colors fade and the petals dry. But, as soon as the flowers are spent (or begin to fade) you can cut them off the shrub. Or, you can cut the flowers after they have opened completely and put them in a vase of water for use indoors. Either way, you can enjoy the blooms for a very long time.
