Are mums plants that must be propagated by cuttings or can you begin them from seed?

Chrysanthemums are generally started from cuttings. You can root stem cuttings in the summer, or take rooted cuttings from established mum plants in the spring. When new growth begins, just dig the plant and divide it. Each of the new sprouts will becomea new plant.
