Elijah Blue always brown at the middle - Knowledgebase Question

I planted 4 Elijah Blue grasses last summer. The middles of 3 the plants were alway brown (they look like they are dead) but the rest of the plant is fine. This year the same thing when they came back. Are they lacking something?

Based on your description I suspect they need to be divided. (The centers tend to die out with age and the perimeter remains more vigorous.) The other possibility, if it gets worse as the summer goes on, is that what you are seeing is a seasonal decline in response to the heat and humidity. You might try dividing them early next spring.
