I'v just had a new deck built and it is attracting carpenter bees. In one month I have found & removed four nests. Is there anything I can do to prevent the bees from building their nests?

Carpenter bees usually tunnel into wood that is deteriorated and/or has not been sealed, painted or stained. You may want to consider using a water seal or protective stain finish on the deck to help it last longer anyway, and that should stop the problem. You may be interested in knowing that the males can't sting and the females are really quite docile and slow. Here is more information about them. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.
