My Purple Leaf Plum tree that I recently purchased has 'holes'in many of the leaves. What is it? How do I treat it?

It sounds as though the damage was done to the foliage before you brought the tree home. Although the leaves will have holes in them for the rest of the season, the little caterpillars or beetles feeding on the leaves are long gone by now. There's nothing you need to do at the moment, but in the fall after the leaves have dropped, inspect the branches of your tree for insect egg clusters or caterpillar cocoons. Peel off any you find. This should keep your tree's leaves from being eaten next spring. Best wishes with your new tree!
