i've just purchased 3 mandevilla vines (i live in media, pa -zone6) and am planning to put them in a part sun area (more shade than sun). the local nursery tag specified full sun to part shade. i just researched how to winterize these vines on your website-- extremely helpful:) however, i read that these vines require lots of sun:( not sure if i should plant them or take them back to the nursery. any advice would be appreciated. thank you very much!

Mandevillas are heat and sun loving plants. They need full sun all day long, especially in a northern area with short summers like yours. At a bare minimum they need six hours a day of full direct sun including the hour of noon. In too much shade they will not bloom for you. Also, since you will have to bring them inside each fall I would suggest you grow them as container plants. This makes moving them in and out much easier. Enjoy your mandevillas!
