| I made a mistake and planted bermuda seed too soon this past year. I've researched and based on everything I have found, now is the right time of year to plant due to ground temperatures, etc.. I have alot of weeds (mainly crabgrss), how to I prepare the soil to ensure a better outcome with planting this time around? |
| Greg, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. We are transitioning to a new Q&A system and your question was unfortunately lost in the transition. I have discovered it now and hope this reply is not too late to be of help. You could start with a rototilling to turn under weeds or start with a spray of glyphosate (Roundup is one brand) to kill weeds. If you spray wait about 5-7 days then rototill. After rototilling smooth or rake over the area. Then sprinkle seeds and use a roller to press them into contact with the soil. Or you can water lightly to settle the soil around the seed. Whether you roll or not water them in with about 1/2 inch. Keep the area evenly moist...don't allow it to dry out for at least a few weeks to aid in germination and getting the seeds off to a strong start. Thanks for the question.
