For our Sacramento, CA covered patio; would a one-gallon Green Beauty Boxwood survive or thrive in a container with a south east exposure? Summertime highs in sun 100 degrees and higher.

Boxwoods are relatively adaptable plants and will grow in full sun to part shade. I think it will do just fine in the site you describe. Plants in containers tend to need more frequent watering than those in the ground; be sure to water thoroughly when the top inch of potting soil dries out. Choose a container that's just slightly larger than the nursery pot so the roots have some room to spread out, and try to keep afternoon sunshine from directly falling on the pot (too much heat can cook the roots). Aside from those cautions, your new boxwood should thrive.
