will a merritt beauty hydrangea the flowers turn blue if you add acid to the soil?

Some hydrangea flower colors are variable, depending upon soil pH, but the carmine-red colored flowers of Merritt's Beauty are not strongly affected by pH. They will remain true regardless of the acidity or alkalinity of your soil.
