One of my clematises (Gillian Blades) has very little bloom this year and is much shorter than previous years - what's wrong with it?

Gillian Blades is a repeat bloomer and should be pruned immediately after flowering has finished. This should encourage the development of additional flowering stems which should increase the bloom later this summer. As long as the plant looks otherwise healthy, there's nothing to be concerned about. Growing conditions vary from year to year so I suspect that your clematis will catch up with its usual growth pattern a little later in the summer.
