I bought some daffodils this fall but never got a chance to plant them. Can I start them in containers over the winter?

Yes, your best bet is to plant them in containers now giving them a stay outdoors in a protected spot for 10-12 weeks before bringing them in for a spring showing. Spring bulbs suchas tulips and hyacinths need a winter chilling period before they will grow and flower. You can place them outdoors in a protected spot that won't freeze and thaw too much or in the refrigerator in a plastic bag. After the chilling period, bring them into a bright room, water well and keep them warm.
