We have a Prairifre Flowering Crabapple that was planted aprox. 1 year ago. It is in very good shape except the top branches are drooping heavily to one side and the other. Everything we read indicates that the tree grows straight up. It is heavily laden with berrys. Can you please give us some advice.

Based on your description I am not sure if what you are seeing is normal, or not. Its basic growth pattern is upright through the center, but to some extent the tree will show some flexing of the branches. This is more noticeable on a younger tree. It would also be more pronounced if the tree had been overfertilized and grew excessively fast. The overall outline can also be influenced by how it was pruned in youth, meaning with or without a central leader. Since you are concerned, I would suggest you check with your retailer and/or your county extension. That way if there is some corrective pruning or something unusual, needed you will have expert guidance from someone who has seen the tree. Good luck with your tree.
