I bought a lilac bush (about 3 ft high with 3 stalks and root system in burlap bag - not potted version). I planted in the fall. In the spring I had about 3 inches of new growth from each stalk. It looked so funny. Should I cut the stalks back or just leave it. |
New growth is a good sign! Don't cut your plant back at all this year - it needs all the foliage it can develop to help strengthen it. Next year you can prune it to shape. Enjoy! |
