|Hi, I live in South Florida and we are now in our rainy season. I just planted a butterfly garden and it is full of ants now. There were not there when I planted. They come after the rains. How can I control the ants without destroying the plants that are in there now?|
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. We are transitioning to a new Q&A system and your question was unfortunately lost in the transition. I have discovered it now and hope this reply is not too late to be of help.
There are many products that will control ants in the garden. First I should point out that those ants are not plant pests and thus need not be controlled unless you just do not want them to be in the area. The vast majority of ants won't bite the gardener either.
If they are fire ants please submit another question to the Gardensmart website and we can provide guidance on controlling this pest.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
