|where can i find, i want to use for a privacy fence. are the trees hardy in the northeastern part of pennsylvannia? mount pocono? do you have a picture? bamboo trees not bamboo grass. any info on care and growing habits? thank-you!
|Unfortunately I am not sure exactly which plant you are thinking of. Bamboo is a group of plants, some types will mature to a tree-like height while others stay much lower. Some are hardy in cold winter areas such as Mount Pocono, but they may not reach their full mature size there due to the cold weather. It also takes a bamboo nearly ten years to hit its mature height. So I am not sure this is the best plant for your purpose, although Yellow Groove Bamboo or Phyllostachys aureosulcata is hardy to zone 5 and reaches 15 to 25 feet in height. (It is also a spreading or running bamboo so can be difficult to maintain at a narrow width like a hedge.) I would suggest you work with your local county extension and local professional nursery staff to determine which plants might grow best in the location you have in mind. Good luck with your privacy planting!
