| My Monrovia Eastern Snowball was gorgeous and green when I first got it but it wilted after a few days of above 90 degrees heat. The leaves then turned brown and dry and began to fall off. What can I do? Will it still flower? Thanks and regards, Ginger Marshall |
| Brown dry leaves is not a good sign. It indicates stress. It could be transplant shock, it might be due to poor rooting, or it could be due to underwatering. When it does not rain enough to keep the soil damp, you need to waterso that the soil stays evenly moist. This helps it to develop a strong root system after planting. To know if you need to water, dig into the soil with your finger. If it is still damp, do not water yet. When you do water, apply it at the root area and let it soak in deep to encourage deep rooting. It is better to water deeply but less often than sprinkle lightly every day. Since this is a new plant, I would suggest you work with your retailer to troubleshoot the problem. As far as blooming, this shrub blooms once a year so if it has already flowered this year you will have to wait until next year for another display. Good luck with your Viburnum! |
