| I am trying to grow a hybrid tomato (granny smith apple) and it is not growing well or producing any fruit. My other tomato plants are thriving. What am I doing wrong in regards to the hybrid? |
| Granny Smith has the same cultural requirements of other tomatoes, so I'm not sure why this particular plant is failing to thrive when all the others in your garden are doing well. It has nothing to do with the fact that it is a Granny Smith, but more to do with it simply being a tomato plant in need of lots of sunshine, adequate and consistent applications of water, and occasional feeding. You may want to dig your plant and move it to a different garden location, or simply plant it in a container filled with potting soil and placing it in a sunny spot on your deck or patio. This tomato was probably named after the Granny Smith apple. It has an exceptionally tart flavor and the fruit has enough firmness that it can be diced for salads and used in salsa. It will ripen, keeping its GREEN COLOR. Even though it has a slightly tart flavor, it will have the taste of a tomato. It matures in 72 days. Hope your tomato plant perks up soon. |
