Recently received 2 of your Northblue Midseason Blueberry plants as a present. Can I keep the Northblue Midseason Blueberry plants in their pots? Keep outside on patio (in sun about 75% of the day). Move inside garage/shed in winter. If yes, any tips for doing this? |
This plant would be healthier in the long run if you could plant it in the ground in a sunny spot with some protection from wind. Keep in mind that it matures at about six feet tall -- although considered compact for a blueberry -- so it will become cramped and difficult to keep properly moist in a container long term. If you want to try to overwinter it in a container, then yes you would need to move it to a sheltered place in late fall. It is best if dark and cool but just above freezing. Keep the soil barely damp, meaning not bone dry. Set it outside in early spring to wake up naturally with the season. Good luck with your blueberry plants! |
