I just submitted a e-mail concerning my butterfly bush. The type of bush is a Petite Plum Dwarf bush. Like I said it looks dead. Is there any hope that it wll look beautiful.

Butterfly Bush, also known as Buddleia davidii, blooms on new growth. Therefore, stems should be pruned back in early spring to encourage large, lush flower spikes. You can let it grow into a shrub form, (which could eventually be about 12'x15') but your Petite Plum will remain smaller. If the roots remained alive over the winter months, new shoots should develop from the base of the plant. If you don't see any new growth, your Petite Dwarf may not have made it. If you replace your shrub, be sure to protect it over the winter months by mounding organic matter over the crown of the plant to keep it from freezing. Best wishes with your garden!
